Experience
Hi, I'm Wyatt. I have a passion for math that has led me to create Mathematics Magic. Mathematics Magic is a nonprofit organization that is aimed at inspiring students to get excited about mathematics. This has made it possible for me to share math-based math and recreational math with second through fifth graders. I believe that math is fun and should not be threatening or tedious to my students, so combining it with magic helps me get this point across. I think math has a big role in everyone's life. It has three main purposes: applications, its inherent beauty, and its ability to teach us reason logically. I stand by this theory and teach it to my math students and use it when I do presentations. Along with Mathematics Magic, I also present at Healthy Kids Day and local YMCA summer camps in Gardena. My other hobbies include biking, body surfing, working out, gardening, juggling, and writing educational software. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy. I also have a single subject teaching credential in mathematics. After earning those degrees, I spent two years teaching high school math and science in the Imperial Valley. I then returned to school and completed a Master of Science in Computer Science. As I was earning my master's degree, I taught college level Trigonometry and Algebra. I then went on to be a software engineer at TRW and Northrop Grumman. I recently retired, and I am focusing on sharing my love of math through tutoring.
